Goyce Kakegamic
> Mr. Goyce Kakegamic, one of Canada’s leading, and most honoured, Aboriginal artists, was the brother-in-law of Norval Morrisseau, since 1957, and was directly involved in a partnership with him in an art retail business selling Norval’s paintings and limited edition prints in the 1970s. They were both members of the exclusive art group known as 'Triple K Co-operative'.

Mr. Kakegamic says he saw Norval Morrisseau paint many times, and has signed Authenticity Statements, declaring numerous “1970s style black dry brush titled, signed, and dated” works to be genuine works by Norval Morrisseau.

(Mr. Goyce Kakegamic is a Deputy Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, earned a BA and received an Honourary Doctorate from Lakehead University.)

Mr. Goyce Kakegamic has signed a large number of Authenticity Statements for Genuine Norval Morrisseau paintings from the collections of Mr. Rolf Schneiders and Mr. Gary Lamont, both from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Also, a large number of paintings from the collection of Ugo Matulic (Blog Master) were acquired from Mr. William Wallace (click HERE). Many of these paintings came from the collection of Mr. Rolf Schneiders who mostly acquired them from Mr. David Voss, also from Thunder Bay.

NOTE: The genuine Norval Morrisseau painting involved in this court case was also acquired from Randy Potter Estate Auctions and appraised by Mr. Joseph McLeod. All painting sold through Randy Potter Estate Auctions came from the collection of Mr. David Voss of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Hi Spiritwalker,
This painting that was recently sold at auction, in my opinion, was a steal. Norval's paintings should be selling for tens of thousands!! He is one of Canada's greatest ARTISTS.. along with the Group of SEVEN, so why are these auction houses estimating these paintings so low, it's a disgrace to Norval's legacy and this Morrisseau madness must stop!!!
