Norval Morrisseau with his brother Wolf - Thunder Bay, Ontario, 2002
-
-
Mr. Wilfred (Wolf) Morrisseau's statement clarifies how Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair was 'NEVER a protégé' to Norval Morrisseau and any claims made by Ritchie Sinclair have been based on a false historicity made up by Sinclair. Details to how these two came into association are explained further in this affidavit by Mr. Wilfred (Wolf) Morrisseau who is brother and kin to the late Norval Morrisseau:
-
-
"To Whom It May Concern:
-
----I Wilfred David Charles Morrisseau (Wolf) do make this statement in all honesty and sincerity concerning my late brother Norval Morrisseau.
-
----I, Wilfred (Wolf) Morrisseau did live with my brother in Buckhorn, Ontario from 1975 to 1981. During this time, I was my brother's caretaker as well as his temporary manager for his artwork.
-
----Norval had homosexual tendencies and he would go to Toronto and he would bring back male escorts. In the fall of 1981, I had met Mr. Richie Sinclair as one of the male escorts. Mr. Sinclair provided services for Norval and he would pay cash. My brother would also give the male escorts paintings and artifacts that he was collecting. These items were usually used as payments for their services. These escorts would also steal paintings and artifacts as well. Even though my brother has homosexual tendencies, I did not engage in these activities.
-
----Throughout this time, I never saw Mr. Sinclair ever paint with my brother nor did I ever heard him say that he adopted him. My brother has never given Mr. Sinclair authorities over his artworks. Mr. Sinclair had taken advantage of my brother sickness. By doing so he would steal his artwork and personal artifacts. My brother did not consider Mr. Sinclair as his protégé, but only as in my brother's words "his boy toy".
-
----Everything in this statement I have given is the truth about my involvement with my late brother Norval Morrisseau.
-
Sincerely,

-
Signed
-
Wilfred (Wolf) Morrisseau"

~ An Introduction
-
The following statement is from KRG's blog dated August, 10th, 2008. This proves their many years of deception which started with a 'National Post' article: "Morrisseau fakes alleged" dated May 18th, 2001 launched by Donald Robinson of the Kinsman Robinson Galleries in his efforts to corner the Norval Morrisseau Art Market through slander and smear campaigns:
-
"We created our blog, after Norval Morrisseau passed away, so that collectors and buyers alike could have access to reliable information and to present the truth about the proliferation of Morrisseau forgeries which have flooded the marketplace. KRG will continue to deal with everyone with absolute integrity. We will provide up-to-date and accurate information to the best of our knowledge and ability. We're committed to this mission."

~ KRG Exhibition "NORVAL MORRISSEAU - A Retrospective" ~
---/November 9th - to 29th 2008/
-
This Norval Morrisseau retrospective only shows artwork that was all apparently acquired directly from the artist as per the List of Works in Exhibition Index (click HERE). This constant claim is and has always been highlighted, promoted and marketed as such to imply an inherent superiority in the Morrisseau painting(s) being offered up for sale by Kinsman Robinson Galleries. That along with being "the official representatives of Norval Morrisseau" implies a higher fitness of sale/expertise that the public should rely on due to KRG relationship and knowledge of both Norval Morrisseau and his art. This is even reflected in further as per following entry from Twitter by KRG as of September 30th, 2009:
-
Beware of blanket statements such as "provenance leading directly to the artist" which are not backed up by verifiable facts.

-
(Click
HERE for link to the statement above or click HERE for its screen capture)
-
The above statement was direct reply by KRG to description on the NORVAL MORRISSEAU BLOG of one of the paintings from my private collection ("Erotic Couple", 1980) posted earlier on the same day (click
HERE).
-
Kinsman Robinson Galleries does this to maintain the concept of having a provenance which is the basis of their claims to the public. It's the provenance etc. Again, the industry accepted notion of the provenance is the artwork from the artist to the gallery to the buyer. That's it. The question is how is this possible for this show.

Norval Morrisseau, late 1980s
/Vancouver, BC, Canada/
-
In 1987 Norval Morrisseau met Gabor Vadas, who for the last 20 years of Norval Morrisseau's life functioned as Mr. Morrisseau's guardian and business manager, while there were both homeless on the streets of Vancouver. Mr. Aaron Milrad, who is Gabor Vadas' lawyer admitted that during that time period you could buy a Morrisseau for $10 or a cheap bottle of liquor. If so and these painting were acquired directly from the artist where were they when Mr. Morrisseau was living on the streets of Vancouver?
-
The Exhibition called "NORVAL MORRISSEAU - A Retrospective" lists nineteen (19) of the thirty four (34) paintings as being done prior to the period before Mr. Robinson says he signed a contract with Norval on March 6th, 1990. The notion that in this Exhibition that all pieces from the 1960's up until when Mr. Robinson represented Mr. Morrisseau were acquired directly from the artist is completely false and ridiculous. The current seller of the paintings may indeed have bought it directly from Mr. Morrisseau and it could indeed be an original, but Mr. Robinson denies this same treatment to anybody else and only casts dispersion on the same facts to anybody else. The fact is that only "his" clients can claim such provenance in the same set of circumstances. The fact is that these are pieces that have been consigned to Mr. Robinson by the seller. There is nothing wrong or illegal with that. The only problem for Mr. Robinson is that he would have to admit that these are real Morrisseaus' that don't have the traditional provenance. This is in direct contradiction to his mantra of provenance, provenance, provenance, which he uses to disqualify and cast suspicion anyone else from selling/consigning a Morrisseau because the piece cannot be attributed directly through the artist or primary dealer-which he claims to be.
- -
Mr. Donnald Robinson's contention that all artwork was acquired directly from the artist is misleading. Mr. Robinson bought several pieces of artwork from Waddington's Auction House but labels these as being 'acquired directly from the artist' (click HERE to view the above presented painting that used to appear on KRG website where it was clearly stated painting being 'acquired directly from the artist' and click HERE to read their List of Works in Exhibition Index stating the same. Also, click HERE to view the same painting presented on the KRG's blog prior the exhibition).
-
This painting was not 'acquired directly from the artist' and in fact it was bought by Kinsman Robinson Galleries on October 24, 2007 at Waddington's Auction House in Toronto, Ontario only to be sold at their gallery a year later.

The above is a photograph from the Waddington's wall clearly showing this painting (Lot # 158) along with several others that were for sale on October 24, 2007 (click HERE to view these Lots at Waddington's website or click HERE for the screen capture). Mr. Donald Robinson et al. tries to thwart and refute anybody else's attempt to claim such in the marketplace by insisting on a "rock solid" provenance. One that even he cannot give.

I would like to thank you all for your comments posted on this "NORVAL MORRISSEAU BLOG". It is proving to be an exciting success as I have always anticipated it would be. The subject is dynamic and evolving to say the least. Allow me to introduce myself with a name that I have chosen - Spirit Walker.

The subject of my passion is Norval Morrisseau's art. He is one of the very few living artists who started a completely new art movement: the Woodland or Medicine School of Art, now called the Anishnaabe School of Art, and has been dubbed the Father of Canadian Aboriginal Art. I believe as well as many others do that we are witnessing the rise of a Star in the World of Art with Universal proportions. My extensive knowledge and research along with my personal collection which I have amassed over the years are what I draw my knowledge base from. It seems like almost every day I find a new and fantastical correlation within this man's work. It is never ending. The scope and depth of Morrisseau's visions throughout his lifetime have left an impact on my soul that I cannot describe in words. "Perhaps I should paint as Morrisseau did to express feelings otherwise would not be explicable within my vocabulary?" His Art Work is my passion.

Challenge keeps all of us going and is the spice of life. Norval Morrisseau has given us plenty to flavour our appetites. He uses tenderness and harsh realities associated with purifying our souls painted as images on canvas. In the end it is our choice to fall or RISE! Norval Morrisseau's works of Art have been challenged on many levels by different people. The issue of authenticity of his works can only be drawn out of secrecy by revealing the necessary knowledge for the seasoned collector and the novice wishing to swim in this Golden Ocean which is before us by exposing that which has been kept secret. The novice needs to know the precious tidbits of information at his or her disposal to make a sound and wise decision on purchasing Woodland Art created by the Master...Norval Morrisseau. I will desiminate whatever knowledge I have in this regard and keep a sensitive eye on any new developments as they will arise. Should I stray, please feel free to comment so as to put me on the right path again. I Thank you.

This information will of course prove to be invaluable to all collectors now and in the future. I am an authority in my own right. Many people have asked for my opinion and value my judgement which is not backed up by monetary gain but for the truth to be known and recorded for posterity. So let it be written so let it be done. All topics are open for discussion. I thank the Creator for allowing me this venue. Let us not disappoint but release the store house of Spiritual knowledge left to us painted on the canvas of Norval Morrisseau's legacy. This is my Constitution and Manifesto. Let us begin...

> It is clear from the painting and the letter that Norval Morrisseau worked with Mr. Julian Porter (a Chairman for the Toronto Transit Commission - TTC) and The Honourable David Crombie (a Minister of Northern and Indian Affairs) on a mural project for the University Avenue subway station adjacent to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). He was working on a $300,000 contract with the TTC (see Page 6) and at least one of the paintings (shown above) was given to his landlord Carolyn as a rent payment (see Page 8). Also, he expressed his dissatisfaction with Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair. Telling Mr. Sinclair to leave the project because he was not getting Morrisseau and his team anywhere except to divert him from successfully negotiating the Subway project (read Pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8).
-
> Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair scandalized this story about the 'Subway Collection' event on his website of lies www.morrisseau.com. Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair has lied stating that these paintings were stolen. He also publicly slandered Mr. Gary Lamont by calling him a drug dealer and forgery source. He has also stated that Mr. Lamont tried to create a history with Norval Morrisseau (click HERE for original post or click HERE for its screen capture). Also, Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair wrote that I told him that it was Mr. Gary Lamont selling the 'Subway Collection' paintings through Maslak McLeod Gallery. I want to make it clear that I have never had any conversation with Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair in regards to this matter and what he has posted on his website of lies is criminal and decieving.

-
> Mr. Gary Lamont a.k.a. Gary Bruce Thacky (Thunder Bay, Ontario) is the owner of www.woodlandartgallery.ca and he did not need to create a history with Norval Morrisseau. Mr. Lamont was a very close and good friend of Norval Morrisseu. Mr. Morrrisseu always kept Mr. Gary Lamont in high regards right from the very beginning of their relationship. Mr. Gary Lamont had a connection with the artist that went back to the beginning of the 1980's and Norval Morrisseau was a family friend since the early 1960's (click HERE).
-
~ All the paintings presented now and in the past on www.woodlandartgallery.ca are authentic pieces of art by Norval Morrisseau.
-
> It is important to note that I am not a member at Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair's website of lies www.morrisseau.com. The following individuals have never been members either: 'Norval' for Norval Morrisseau who passed away on December 4th, 2007, Avalon (Michael Moniz), Blair (Blair Debassige), Potter (Randy Potter), Maslak (Joseph McLeod), Lamont (Gary Lamont), David (David Morrisseau), Christain (Christian Morrisseau), Eugene (Eugene Morrisseau), Bruce (Bruce Morrisseau), 'Jack' for Jack Pollock who passed away in 1992 & Grete Ring who is a fictitious person used by Ritchie 'Stardreamer' Sinclair to convey his criminal falshoods and lies.
-
Important note: Progress is being made in the courts to bring this criminal to justice and the small group of people that have supported him in the past which have evidently been abandoning him as well.

~ The Honourable David Crombie*, PC, OC who at that time served as a Minister of Northern and Indian Affairs (Pages 6, 7 & 8).

-
* The Honourable David Crombie served as Mayor of Toronto from 1972 to 1978 and as Member of Parliament from 1978 to 1988, during which time he served in three different federal Cabinet posts: Minister of Health and Welfare, Minister of Northern and Indian Affairs and Secretary of State.
