Hi Spirit Walker,
-
This is just one of many drawings/paintings on birch bark given to me by a very close friend of mine during the Summer of 2002. This man was a very good friend to the late Norval Morrisseau. Upon my friend’s unfortunate death I inherited a large collection of original birch bark drawings and paintings. This and other drawings and paintings were said to have been offered at one time to the Kinsman Robinson Galleries*. They were prized by Mr. Morrisseau and my friend as well due to the fact these are some of his earliest works. The Kinsman Robinson Galleries supposedly said these were not of interest and wanted only paintings on canvas done by the artist instead.

That birchbark is very powerful. Will you be featuring any other birchbarks in the near future? A study on them would be very interesting. Sad that KRG lost the opportunity to aquire this piece and others. What a treasure! One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Yes, more of the birch bark drawings/paintings will be presented on this platform.

Again, I am thanking a collector for the submission of an authentic image of an original painting on birch bark by Norval Morrisseau and I respects owner's decision to remain anonymous.

Spirit Walker,

I agree with P.J, this is a great piece of Norval Morrisseaus' work.
Birchbarks are fairly rare on the market today. Hopefully we will all be treated to more of these fine painting/drawings.
I also want to tip my hat to Spirit Walker for enduring everything this past year with such class. Its rare these days to see a gentleman in this art world.
Nice job!
