Randy Trudeau was raised by his Oma and Opa in Buzwah in the traditional lifestyle of living with the land he was very proud of his strict and dutiful upbringing. He loved music, playing and singing. He was an avid sportsman and fan. Randy was a gifted and talented artist.  This was his passion and brought him international fame.

Randy was an Odawa-Ojibwe artist and was one of the young teenagers who participated in the Manitou Arts Foundation summer workshop on Shreiber Island in 1966. The camp had been organized by Tom Peltier and taught by Daphne Odjig and Carl Ray as part of their committment to introduce native youth to the possibility of an arts career.

He was also inspired to paint by Francis Kagige's illustrations for Tales of Nokomis by Patronella Johnston.

Randy Trudeau was a member of the second generation of the Woodland/Anishinaabe artists from Manitoulin Island which include James Simon MISHIBINIJIMA, John Laford, Melvin Mahdabee, Eleanor Kanaswe, Enok Jacko and Martin Panamick

His lyrical artistic style is distinguished by tonal form lines in four parallel bands of colour and he has his own unique method of depicting spirit beings.

Randy Trudeau was a storyteller very strong in his history and Anishnabemowin. Randy was a lifelong teacher and will be forever remembered through his art and students.
