"I transmit astral plane harmonies through my brushes into the physical plane. These otherworld colours are reflected in the alphabet of nature, a grammar in which the symbols are plants, animals, birds, fishes, earth and sky. I am merely a channel for the spirit to utilize, and it is needed by a spirit starved society."

Lovely to view some of the Helen Band collection on your blog SW. Our art group look forward to reading the interesting insights in our native culture that you and your staff so diligently research. We are a retired group that meet on a regular basis that now spend most of our time viewing and discussing your posting. We had no idea that there was so many conflicting opinions about the artist's work & hope any differences of opinion will soon be resolved. Your blog is doing a wonderful service for Canadian native art and our Thunder Bay group and your staff well in the endeavour. Did you know that one of our famous authors, Sheila Burnford, was a Morrisseau friend and collector?
