"This painting is beleived to represent Norval Morrisseau's rebirth after an illness when he was named Copper Thunderbird."
-
Gary Scherbain
- present owner of the Wah-sa Gallery in Winnipeg, Manitoba and at one time a reporter with the Winnipeg Free Press who coined the phrase "Indian Group of Seven" -
-
~ As per conversation I had with Mr. Scherbain in 2010 he conveyed to me that he sold this artwork for a person who acquired it directly from the artist.

Note: The Wah-sa Gallery was purchased by the original ownwers from Daphne Odjig and her husband, Chester Beavon in 1976 at 331 Donald St. in Winnipeg. The original owners of the gallery were Janice Cardigan, Arlene Rosine and Gary Scherbain. In November, 2006, the gallery moved to the Johnston Terminal at the Forks in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba CANADA.
-
It was Daphne Odjig. herself, who suggested the name Wah-sa, which in Ojibway literally means “far away” but in the vernacular of the mid-seventies means “far-out”.
