-
Mr. Gary Lamont a.k.a. Gary Bruce Thacky & Spirit Chaser*, was introduced to Norval Morrisseau by his father (step-father) Allen Heney (his biological father was George Lamont). His father had known Norval Morrisseau since beginning of the 1960s in Beardmore, Ontario (they were neighbours).

-
Mr. Gary Lamont met Norval Morrisseau in 1980 when he bought six paintings from him because he needed the money. Norval Morrisseau came to visit him with paintings for sale on recommendation by Roger Onakanakis-Kek from McDermid, Ontario (near Beardmore by Lake Nipigon; he is now residing in Pays Plat First Nation Reserve on the shores of Lake Superior). Norval Morrisseau lived in Thunder Bay, Ontario and he would have come often to visit him in his Thunder Bay house and they would drink tea.
-
Many times he would come to sell him paintings because he needed money for rent. Once he told him that he could have ask for more money for paintings of the certain size and artistic quality, and Norval Morrisseau agreed.
-
Norval Morrisseau later moved from his house at McLaughlin Street at house, next to Mr. Lamont's, at Fitzgerald Street. Mr. Gary Lamont provided him with canvases, brushes and paint that he supplied from the "Painted Turtle Art Shop" in Thunder Bay. At the same time he started selling his paintings to people in Thunder Bay and that was beginning of their business relationship that lasted for more than a decade.

"I transmit astral plane harmonies through my brushes into the physical plane. These otherworld colours are reflected in the alphabet of nature, a grammar in which the symbols are plants, animals, birds, fishes, earth and sky. I am merely a channel for the spirit to utilize, and it is needed by a spirit starved society."
