>>> As per the above presented post by Kinsman Robinson Galleries blog at http://genuinemorrisseau.blogspot.com/ it is stated that allegations presented on the NORVAL MORRISSEAU BLOG referring to Kinsman Robinson Galleries 'are unfair and false, offensive, mean-spirited & were published either with the knowledge that they were false, or with conscious disregard for the truth'. This KRG post has been revised TODAY - two days after I had received a 'Notice of Libel' from
FRASER MILNER CASGRAIN LLP on behalf of Kinsman Robinson Galleries, Donald C. Robinson and Paul C. H. Robinson.

This is typical of KRG. All they do is threaten people and then do nothing. They let other people go out there and spread false information in the marketplace. People like Aaron Mildrad and the NMHS. If there are so many "fakes" as KRG says there are them let KRG identify them and post them on their website or blog. I say man up KRG. Stop using other people to call paintings "fake". You do it. You call the paintings "fake" rather than others working on your behalf.

KRG says "Provenace, Provenance, Provenace" is the key and you can trust KRG. Yet on page 9 of the Nov 2008 restrospective the Thunderbird which he claims as per page 22 came directly from the artist via a private collection was actually bought at Waddington's ny KRG in the Waddington's monthly auction in June 2007. I guess for KRG buying something at Waddington's and then re-selling it is "directly from the artist". Do you think they disclosed this material fact to the person who bought it? I hope somebody asks KRG about this in a court of law one day.

Boozhoo,

Has anybody checked when KRG attacked Spirit Walker for the first time @ http://norvalmorrisseau.blogspot.com/2009/04/will-real-spiritwalker-please-stand-up.html

and Spirit Walker's response @ http://norvalmorrisseau.blogspot.com/2009/04/real-spirit-walker-is-standing-up.html

Please read all the comments also.

It is amazing to which level Spirit Walker has to go through to justify thruthfulness and honesty of his actions...

When all this will end that we can start enjoying the masterful art of Norval Morrisseau a.k.a. Copper Thunderbird a.k.a. Standing Horse

I AM GOING TO USE SOMEONE ELSE'S STATEMENT PREVIOUSLY PRESENTED ON SW's BLOG WHICH INVOLVES TOPIC OF DISCUSSION OF THIS POST:

"I don't understand the motivation behind the pettiness of the comments. Frankly, I don't really care. It doesn't really matter, (within the larger world) and if we consider the intent and teachings of Norval Morrisseau...well! Someone isn't listening! Someone isn't seeing! What I DO KNOW is that I've been visiting this blog for some time and Spiritwalker as far as I can tell, is honouring Norval Morrisseau, his great art, his magnificent voice and his far-reaching spirit. He is a great admirer of Norval's work and is quite knowledgable; then he shares that knowledge with the world! I do not believe honourable men such as Spiritwalker who has proven himself to be of such character, would suddenly perform a deed that is in conflict with his proven nature by making any un-true claims. Common sense and evidence simply do not support such an accusation.

But I'm thinking this is not the real issue.

The real issue seems to be some sort of KRG* "hand out book" to customers and... I've glimpsed a slight hint here and there on the blog of some sort of conflict with Spiritwalker and KRG. I'm not interested in the nature of the conflict but I do know this. As long as these conflicts continue, and like most conflicts they are no doubt driven by fear, then Norval's worldwide reputation will suffer and his true greatness will never be given it's true and rightful stature. One of the ways that Indians have always been held down and kept in their place is through those who have always purported to be acting in our best interests. We know what that racist way of thinking does and what it is doing now. It is keeping Norval in his place! The contrary result of not acting in his best interest, or the Ojibwa for that matter, while claiming to be doing so is as old as the grass is long. I suggest very strongly that whatever issues require dialogue to resolve them, that, that process begin immediately.

This is in the best interests of Norval, the Ojibwa, KRG and for goodness sake hopefully stop the character assination and innuendo of a lone but honourable blogger. The bigger picture here is to let go of those things that are toxic and assess the issue(s) first with respect, love, fun, passion and spirit. All the things that Norval is and more. I think if there is genuine and sincere effort to this task that all will be well, (the players are hardly what I would refer to as bad people) and that everyone's initial intent to protect the interests of Norval's voice will in fact be manifested. Bring in some elders if you need, but please let Norval fly! It's time.

Thank you."

It is really sad for Norval Morrisseau's legacy that has to come to this :-(

This is in respons to the first commenter.

Kinsman Robinson Galleries (KRG) has a history of using other people to do their 'dirty work' and then dump them when they are no longer usefull. That's why KRG don't publicly call Morrisseau paintings "fake" but hide behind and need other people to do work for them.

Do you truly believe when Ritchie Stardreamer Sinclair goes down that they will be on his side? Just remember when they removed all information about him once he called few paintings from their publication "Norval Morrisseau Travels to the House of Invention" fakes: http://norvalmorrisseau.blogspot.com/2009/05/where-in-krg-world-is-ritchie.html ... and now they are still supporting him even he did that?

Is this support going to continue when he is no longer needed?

Best regards,

Don Robinson won't even show up. Why would he? www.morrisseau.com is down and there nothing for KRG to gain. All KRG can do is exposure themselves to risk be being cross examined. The more KRG says on the records the more they contradict what's on thier blog etc.

Hi to all, I am a collector and admirer of Norval Morrisseau's art for more than 10 years now. I have started this blog in November of 2007 as a response to the misinformation that has been presented in the media and elswhere. I intended to create a platform where people could come and speak freely about Norval Morrisseu's art and anything regarding to the Heritage of the Ojibway poeple and about art in general - A Mission that is still in motion.

All of the Kinsman Robinson's provocations from the very begining of this blog's life (which I have documented and will be presented if needed to) were directed towards eliminating all of the voices from the "both sides of the Morrisseau Story".

If they truly believe that material presented on this platform in regards to their reputation and business practices 'are unfair and false, offensive, mean-spirited & were published either with the knowledge that they were false, or with conscious disregard for the truth' I am inviting them to speak on this plaftorm by presenting the facts & materials backed up with corresponding documentation which will clear or deny all allegations they might have about my actions that transpired from the inceptions on this blog. All of the information will be presented on this platform in its true form unedited.

Thank you for your attention.

As per latest revision of KRG post (revised today) they state that "as a proximate result of Ugo Matulic aka Spirit Walker's publication of these articles and comments, KRG has suffered loss to their trade, business and reputation all contributing to KRG's general and special damages...

What about damages to the trade, businesses and reputation of the lone blogger and countless number of individuals and galleries and some of them even lost their businesses and their livelyhoods? What about millions of dollars invested in Norval Morrisseau's art by collectors? And all because of the actions of KRG members, Ritchie Stardreamer Sinclair, Bryant Ross, Gabe Vadas, Mark Anthony Jacobson, Dr. Jonathan Browne & others...

I am sure if this case goes to a trial that all the collectors of Norval Morrisseau's art and all art community of this great country of ours will stand behind Spirit Walker.

That's my two cents... and yours?

I was invited to the first show that Norval had at KRG. the morning after, We, norval and I, walked through a gallery close by his hotel. In the gallery a painting was for sale. Morrisseau looked at it and said, "I never painted that". The gallery owner was upset of course and said he would talk to the place he got the painting. It seems KRG was the source. Norval then used an old joke, I heard more than once, "I must have been drunk at the time I painted it!" maybe Don remembers this story.

KRG has posted once again that they guarantee paintings by Norval. Will they include the paintings they appraised for Mr Pliss and Mr Fountain, both of which are signed on the back in black acrylic paint?

I see on http://norvalmorrisseaufamilyspeaks.com that several members of the family have said that they watched Norval sign the back of paintings in black acryic paint.

A gallery owner in B.C. has a sworn statement that he held 20 canvases which he framed for Norval while Norval signed, titled and dated the back with black acrylic paint.

Yet KRG is on record saying that Norval Morrisseau never signed the back of paintings using black acrylic paint. SOMEBODY IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.
